BIOGRAPHY 

Sophia Seemann is a Swiss soprano whose artistic focus lies in Baroque music.
From 2026 to 2028, she will be a member of Yocpa 2.0, an academy founded by Jordi Savall and affiliated with La Capella Reial de Catalunya.
Her musical education has been enriched through masterclasses and artistic inspiration from renowned figures such as Philippe Herreweghe, Carlos Mena, Peter Kooij, Arianna Savall and Alex Potter.
She is currently pursuing further vocal training and artistic mentoring with Dolors Aldea and Arianna Savall.

A particular highlight of her artistic career was being invited twice to participate in the Young Bach Soloists masterclass of Collegium Vocale Gent in 2024 and 2025, where she had the opportunity to perform a solo aria at the Concertgebouw Brugge under the direction of Philippe Herreweghe.
In July 2024, she was a selected participant in the International Bach Competition Leipzig and appeared as a soloist in the masterclass concert of the Collegium Vocale Crete Senesi Festival in Tuscany.

Sophia performs regularly across Switzerland and has also appeared in Italy, France, Germany, Belgium, and Austria.
As a soloist, she has been featured in Saint-Saëns’ Oratorio de Noël, Haydn’s Nelson Mass, Mozart’s Requiem, and Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater.

She has also distinguished herself in the fields of opera and musical theatre: in spring 2020, she sang the leading role of Sora in the operetta Gasparone in Beinwil am See, and in winter 2022 she portrayed the role of Grilletta in Joseph Haydn’s opera Lo speziale (The Apothecary).
In autumn 2023, Sophia collaborated with the association KlassikLabor to present a concert at the Stadttheater Olten as part of the Kaffeehauskonzerte series, featuring works by Kurt Weill and Friedrich Hollaender. In December 2024, she performed a concert of early Baroque music as part of the Sternschnuppen Olten series.

Sophia studied at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts – Music and partly at the Swiss Opera Studio in Biel, successfully completing her Master of Arts degree in summer 2019.
In 2021 and 2022, she was twice awarded a scholarship from the Thyll Foundation and received a Covid-19 Work Grantfrom the City of Zurich.
