BIOGRAPHY 

The soprano Sophia Seemann studied at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Music and parts of it at the Swiss Opera Studio in Biel and successfully completed her Master of Arts in summer 2019.

In January 2024 she was selected by the Collegium Vocale Gent for the masterclass as part of the Bach Academy Bruges 2024, followed by a concert conducted by Philippe Herreweghe.

Further master classes and vocal input with Sandra Trattnigg, Arianna Savall and Peter Kooij complement her training.

In 2021 and 2022 she was a two-time scholarship holder of the Thyll Foundation.

 

Sophia Seemann has already given concerts in France, Italy and in Vienna at the Bösendorfer Salon.

In spring 2020 she sang the lead role of Sora in Carl Millöcker's operetta Gasparone in Beinwil am See.
At the Lucerne Festival at Easter 2017 she took on solo roles by Olivier Messiaen and Johann Sebastian Bach under the direction of Ulrike Grosch. This concert was recorded and broadcast by Radio SRF 2 Kultur.

 

Sophia Seemann took part in various performances and art projects, including in December 2018 at the art festival “Löwenbräu leben!” at the Kunsthalle Zurich and in January 2019 with the Viennese theater collective “saft” at the Rote Fabrik Zurich.
 

At the end of 2022 she could be seen in the opera “The Pharmacist” by Joseph Haydn in the role of Grilletta in German-speaking Switzerland.

In 2023, she had various concerts all through Switzerland, for example singing Saint-Saens Oratiorio de Noel and Pergolesi's Stabat Mater.

In December 2023 she appeared as a soloist in the Classic Corner in the Lenzerheide Magic Forest for three days.
